Vivace

Outdoor Lighting, Sound and security

Overview

I was asked to lead the design process for a custom light pole within a large shopping development that was centered around one of WET’s water feature installations. It needed to incorporate speakers for music and water shows, security cameras and a wifi module and aesthetically worked well with the site and other furnishings on site. I worked with the architectural project manager as well as mechanical and audio engineers to incorporate all the required components and develop a form that fit the visual language and exceeded the goals of the project.

Process

After receiving design parameters from the project architect, we also met with and worked with the teams audio engineer and mechanical engineers to understand all the components needed and where we might find opportunities to improve the product experience both for the end user but also on the maintenance and serviceability end. After building a clear picture of our basic constraints, form exploration studies gave the team a good sense of what felt right for the project and it didnt take long to land on the preferred direction.

Outcome

Vivace created a leap forward in the experience WET strives to create. It created a new benchmark for all future projects. Beyond that, it has created a potential for a standalone architectural product that they can offer moving forward.
